Every year, we use on average 200 different language combinations in the handling of our clients’ tasks. We distinguish ourselves, among other things, by being language nerds and love finding exactly the right interpreter, translator and language combination for you. In order to share our enthusiasm for language and dialects, we have made a list intended to function as a guide and reference for anyone who would like to know which languages are spoken where in the world.

Afghanistan
In Afghanistan, there are two official languages: Dari and Pashto. Dari is the Afghan version of Farsi/Persian, which is spoken mostly in the west and north of the country. Pashto is spoken mostly in the south and east. Some Pashto-speaking people also understand Dari. Pashto is also spoken in eastern Pakistan.

Albania
The principal language is Albanian. Albanian is also spoken in Macedonia and Kosovo.

Algeria
The official languages are Arabic and French.

Andorra
In Andorra, the official language is Catalan. Due to the country’s geographical position between France and Spain, both Spanish and French are taught in school.

Angola
Portuguese is the official language of Angola.

Argentina
The spoken language is Spanish.

Armenia
The spoken language is Armenian. Armenian is also spoken in Lebanon, Syria, Iran, Iraq and Jordan.

Azerbaijan
The national language is Azerbaijani, also called Azeri. It has evolved from the Turkish language branch.

Bahamas
In the Bahamas, they speak English.

Bahrain
The official language of Bahrain is Arabic.

Bangladesh
The national language is Bangla, which is also known as Bengali.

Belgium
In Belgium, the official languages are French, German and Flemish. Flemish is the same language as Dutch.

Bolivia
The official and by far the most widely spoken language is Spanish, but over 35 different indigenous dialects are spoken, such as Aymara, Quechua and Guarani.

Bosnia
In Bosnia, the national language is Bosnian, which is the same language as Croatian and Serbian.

Botswana
The official languages are English and Setswana.

Brazil
In Brazil, they speak Portuguese with a Brazilian dialect.

Bulgaria
The central language is Bulgarian. Some people can also speak Turkish.

Burkina Faso
The official language is French. Mori is also spoken there.

Burundi
The official languages are French and Kirundi.

Cambodia
Khmer is the official language, though some people also speak Thai.

Cameroon
The official languages are French and English.

Canada
When it comes to language, Canada is divided into two. In one part of the country, they speak French and in the other, they speak English.

Central African Republic
The official language is French. They also speak Sango/Sangho.

Chile
The central language of Chile is Spanish.

Colombia
The central language of Colombia is Spanish.

Congo
The official language is French. The most widely spoken dialects are Lingala and Kikongo.

Costa Rica
The central language is Spanish.

Cuba
In Cuba, they speak Spanish.

Cyprus
Cyprus is partitioned into a Greek Cypriot part and a Turkish Cypriot part. In the Greek Cypriot part, the language is Greek and in the Turkish Cypriot part, the language is Turkish

The Democratic Republic of Congo
The official language is French. In addition, people here speak Kikongo, Lingala, Tshiluba and Swahili.

Djibouti
The official languages are Arab, French and Somali. However, the most dominant spoken language is the Afar language.

The Dominican Republic
The country shares its island with Haiti. That said, Dominicans speak Spanish rather than French as Haitians do.

Ecuador
The official language is Spanish.

Egypt
Arab is the official language.

Ivory Coast (Côte d'Ivoire)
The official language is French, but Dyula, Akan and Cebaara, among others, are also spoken here.

El Salvador
The official language is Spanish.

Eritrea
The national language is Tigrinya/Tigrigna. Amharic and Saho are also spoken here.

Ethiopia
Amharic is spoken here. In some areas, people also speak Tigrinya/Tigrigna.

the philippines
In the Philippines, they speak Filipino which is also known as Tagalog. Furthermore, they also speak Cebuano in some areas.

Finland
The language is Finnish.

The people's republic of china
The official spoken language is Chinese Mandarin. The written language is called Written Cantonese.

france
The language is French.

Ghana
The official language is English. However, many other languages are spoken here since the country has many different ethnic groups such as: Ewe, Hausa, Akan, Dagaaba.

Gabon
The official language is French. However, around forty different languages are spoken in the country.

Georgia
The central language is Georgian. Russian is also spoken there.

Greece
The official language is Greek.

Guatemala
93% of the population speak Spanish. In addition, there are twenty-one Mayan languages which are spoken in rural areas in particular.

Guinea
The official language is French. They speak a version of French which is called Pidgin French. Other major dialects are Mandinka/Mandingo, Susu and Fula.

Guinea-Bissau
The official language is Portuguese. They also speak Portuguese Creole.

Haiti
The official languages are French and Creole. On the east side of the island lies The Dominican Republic, where they speak Spanish.

the netherlands
The language is Dutch. The same language is called Flemish when spoken in Belgium.

Honduras
The central language is Spanish.

belarus
They speak Belarussian, though almost the entire population speaks Russian as well.

India
The two official languages are Hindi and English. Hindi is also known as Urdu and, when spoken, as Punjabi. Other major dialects include Gujarati and Telugu.

Indonesia
They speak Indonesian, which is also known as Bahasa Indonesian.

Iraq
The majority speaks Arab. However, the large communities of Kurds in the country speak five different dialects and cannot necessarily understand each other. The dialects are split into Arab and Turkish language families. The dialects are Sorani, Kurdmanji, Zaza, Feli, and Bahdini. There is also a minority in northern Iraq who speaks Turkmani.

Iran
The official language is Farsi. Smaller communities of Kurds in the country speak Sorani.

Iceland
The language is Icelandic.

Israel
The two official languages are Hebrew and Arabic.

Italy
The language is Italian.

Jamaica
The official language is English.

Japan
In Japan, they speak Japanese.

Jordan
The central language is Arabic.

Kazakhstan
The two official languages are Russian and Kazakh.

Kenya
The two official languages are English and Swahili.

Kyrgyzstan
The two official languages are Russian and Kyrgyz. Uzbek is also spoken here.

Croatia
The official language is Croatian, which is the same language as Bosnian and Serbian.

Lebanon
Arabic is the official language.

Latvia
The language is Latvian. Part of the population also speaks Russian.

Libya
The official language is Arabic.

Lithuania
Lithuanian and Russian are spoken here.

Madagascar
The two official languages are Malagasy and French.

Macedonia
The language is Macedonian.

Malaysia
The official language is Malaysian, also known as Bahasa Malaysia.

Mali
The official language is French. Bambara is used in everyday speech.

Malta
The official language is Maltese. English is also taught at school.

Morocco
The official languages are Moroccan, Arabic and Berber. Many people also speak French. Berber is mainly spoken in rural areas in the North, and is becoming more widespread, also as a written language.

Mexico
The official language is Spanish. Furthermore, 62 indigenous languages are also spoken here.

Moldova

The official language is English, However, Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo are very widespread languages in Nigeria.

Malta
The official language is Maltese. English is also taught at school.

The official language is Spanish, which is also spoken in all countries in Central and Southern America, except Brazil. Furthermore, Catalan is spoken in Valencia and Barcelona, and Basque is spoken in the Basque Country in Northern Spain.

Sri Lanka
The two official languages are Sinhala and Tamil.

Sudan
The official language is Arabic.

Sweden
The language is Swedish.

South Africa
There are 11 official languages in South Africa: English, Afrikaans, Zulu, Xhosa, Sepedi, Setswana, Sesotho, Xitsonga, Swazi, Tshivenda and Southern Ndebele.

South Korea
The language is Korean.

South Sudan
The official language is English. Other languages spoken here are Bari, Dinka and Luo.

Syria
The official language is Arabic. Kurdish is also spoken by a minority.

Swaziland
The two official languages are Swazi and English.

Tajikistan
The official language is Tajik, which is a variety of Persian.

Tanzania
In Tanzania, they speak Swahili.

The two official languages are Arabic and French. However, over 100 dialects are spoken in the country.

Thailand
The official language is Thai.

CZECH REPUBLIC
In the Czech Republic, the official language is Czech.

TUNISIA
The official languages are Arabic and French.

Turkmenistan
The vast majority of the population speaks Turkmen.

The official language is German.

Uganda
